post title: .what's with our uniform?.

(i have to put the post title cause this layout i'm using doesn't show post titles.)

i'm a nursing student.

not only that!

...i also study at an exclusive nursing college.

that only means one thing!...

we have simple rules to be strictly followed.

we are soon to be called "health care professionals" that's why we can't afford to be breaking rules and regulations. we cannot be late. a second could mean a life to someone else. and we also can't afford to make mistakes with procedures. just imagine a nurse messing up while an operation is going on. these are just a few of the reasons why we have this so-called rules.

one of the simple rules we have is to wear our proper school uniform. STRICTLY no id, no entry policy is implemented in our school. we also have to wear our gray uniform, BLACK (not gray, not any other color) stockings, the exclusive school shoes. yes, you read it right. all the girls have the same shoe design. boys, on the other hand are free to use any black leather shoes.

okay... so where am i getting at?... read further to find out.

before deciding to enroll at remedios trinidad romualdez- makati medical center school for nursing, i told myself i wouldn't be caught wearing that school's uniform. i thought it was lame. that it looked more of a maid uniform than a nursing student uniform. we even made jokes like it's for the "makati maids". ahaha! but then i enrolled there. and sadly (at first), i have to wear their unifrom. i disliked our uniform. not only does it look bad, but the fitting of the uniform was not that good. the buttons keep on detaching themselves from the uniform itself and the shoes hurt like hell when you walk. the sole is both hard and thin. you can feel the stones when you walk onto a rough surface. what a bummer.

BUT!...

as days passed by, i got used to wearing the uniform... every morning during mondays to thursdays, i wear the gray uniform, black stockings and shoes. seeing my classmates wear the same thing made me feel like the uniform was just ok.

i started appreciating it when...

first appraisal: one afternoon, after class, i went to buy silvanas at brownies near the connection of sm and glorietta, a woman drew near me and asked from what school i was. and so i said, "rtrms-mmc". surprisingly, the woman said, "so that's a uniform for nursing (student)?" i nodded. she said, "cute..." i noticed she was wearing a blouse with the ABS-CBN patch. naks taga ABS! i smiled. :)

second appraisal: after class (again), we went to g4. we were circled together as we were talking about whether we are to play at timezone or not when a man approached us and asked from what university we were studying... of course we replied then he told us that our uniform is "maganda". i smiled, once again. :)

third (and latest) appraisal: after class (as always), we went to eat at landamrk's food court. as we were headed to red ribbon to buy a cake, a foreigner said in a voice not too soft for us not to hear. he said, "nice uniform." this time, i didn't smile immediately. why? nabinge kasi ako. hehe! i sure heard a voice saying something but i didn't know that the guy was already complementing us... when amabel (she was the only one who heard the comment) told us about what she heard, that's when i smiled. :)

now i keep on wondering why the higher society (mukha kasi silang sossy eh...) thinks our uniform looks good and we can't even appreciate its beauty.

anyway, what i'm trying to say is that OUR UNIFORM doesn't look _that_ bad at all. just like any other uniforms, it has flaws. but it also has strong points. :)

MY VERY OWN UNIFROM TRIVIA: my school shoes are not the same. thanks to chai for noticing... (later i will post a picture of my shoes and you just have to spot the difference. lolz)

that's all for now folks! ^_^
